Join expert tutors from the Royal School of Needlework for an exclusive Goldwork embroidery experience at the Household Cavalry Museum, set within the historic working stables at Horse Guards.
Created especially for this unique collaboration, you will learn to stitch your own goldwork horseshoe, a contemporary design celebrating the history, heritage and ceremonial traditions of the Household Cavalry.
Taking inspiration from the ceremonial embroidery created for State occasions, you will learn how these traditional materials can be applied to a contemporary design. You will explore how to handle and apply metal threads to create texture, structure and shine, alongside learning how to apply beads with discreet stitching so that the method of attachment becomes virtually invisible.
As part of your experience, you will enjoy a private tour of the Household Cavalry Museum and go behind the scenes of the King’s Life Guard stables at Horse Guards, with a glass of Prosecco to enjoy along the way. You will have the unique opportunity to meet and speak with a serving member of the Household Cavalry, gaining an insight into the Regiment’s fascinating history, traditions and working life.
A unique blend of craftsmanship, history and hands-on creativity in an unforgettable setting.
